21 Great Dates
Stark County Swimming
Going swimming is a great idea for a date as long as you remember a couple of key rules. Gentlemen, no matter how ripped you think you are, never, ever wear a speedo to the public pool. Ladies, no matter how gorgeous you think your body is, please leave at least a little to the imagination.
Not just one destination, but many! Spend the day catching some rays at one Stark County’s favorite swimming holes. If the weather goes south on you, then check out a couple of indoor splash sites! Check out any of the HALF-DOZEN listed below:
Clay’s Park
13190 Patterson Road, North Lawrence | 1.800.860.4386
Clay's Park was the vision and dedicated work of Mr. Otis D. Clay. The property for the park was secured in 1945 through the purchase of several tracts of land just southwest of Canal Fulton, Ohio. Plans were developed around Otis's vision and work began in 1947. A complete "Family Fun Center" was the goal. The first task after clearing the land, was to tap into the natural spring that fed another lake on the property. Countless man-hours were spent on crafting this wondrous vision and on Memorial Day, 1948, Clay's Park officially opened its gates to hordes of eager and curious visitors. People came from miles around to take in the natural beauty and excitement generated by this new man-made wonder.
According to the CEO, Kevin McQuaide and COO, Peggy Clay McQuaide, our growth has allowed us not only to development one of the finest RV Resorts in America but also to expand our newly renovated Melody Barn for music lovers. "Our grandfather's vision has now evolved to include two nationally known festivals at Clay's Park. For many years Clay's Park has been the host of thousands of people attending Yankee Peddler (32 years) and the ALIVE Christian Music Festival (17 years). Rock N Resort Music Festival (2nd year) and Fox Creek Outdoor Experience (3rd year) are two new festivals that Clay's Park is also hosting."

Great Swimming Hole #4
Baylor Beach
8725 Manchester Ave SW, Navarre | 330.767.3031
Sarah Helen Baylor had a cottage at Myers Lake in Canton, Ohio. A gentlemen, who owned a swimming lake called “the Beachcomber” located on 6 acres of land, 1 ½ miles south of Brewster, Ohio, approached Sarah in 1953 about purchasing her cottage at Myers Lake. After much discussion, Sarah not only sold her cottage to the gentlemen but, also, acquired the Beachcomber property. The Beachcomber was re-opened the following summer, but do to it’s poor reputation, had little success.
In 1955, the facility was renamed the Baylor Beach. At that time there was a small lake, a bath-house, a diving stand and 6 acres of mud and weeds. Over the years many improvements have been made to Baylor Beach. A new diving stand and picnic shelter was added in 1960 In the early 1960’s the140-acre farm land adjacent to the original 6 acres was added to the park. Shortly after that time a second lake and camping area were added. Baylor Beach continued adding improvements to the park with the addition of 3 more picnic shelters, a 700 seat pavilion, a 90 foot tube slide, a 18 hole miniature golf course, paddleboats, two log rolls, a basketball court, sand volleyball courts, horseshoes, 60 camping sites and a primitive tent area. The Baylor family keeps getting new ideas, which makes it a never ending work-in-progress.
